October 8

twenty-one years ago, at Linate international

airport

in

Milan, was not an ordinary day: on that date

the most serious plane crash in Italy was recorded.

An MD-87 aircraft of the Scandinavian company SAS and a private Cessna

Citation

, which was taking off, collided on the runway, causing

118 deaths

.

Since then, established last year with a special law, the “

Day not to forget”

has been celebrated , which commemorates the victims of transport, not just air.

"We commemorate it - recalled the

president of ENAC

Pierluigi Di Palma

during the ceremony that took place this morning - to preserve and renew the memory of those who lost their lives due to air, road, rail, sea and aim to sensitize the competent institutions to a greater attention to problems related to transport safety while respecting the centrality of the passenger ".

The law was born on the initiative of ENAC and with the support of the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility.

Today a commemoration ceremony took place in the Bosco dei Faggi, next to the Milanese airport.

While the Fire Brigade, at the time protagonists of the rescue operations, published a video to remember the tragedy and commemorate the victims.
